Year-End Predictive Evaluation Dashboard

In Predictive Evaluation (PE), I share my evaluation findings with stakeholders using the dashboard concept. The dashboard is a report to senior management providing an at-a-glance perspective on the current status of a course in the context of predetermined (predicted) metrics for that program (Intention, Adoption, or Impact). PE dashboards are simple, short, and do not require interpretation.  Click here for a sample of these types of Predictive Evalution dashboards.

Recently, some of my clients have needed year-end reports that share evaluation findings (Intention, Adoption, and Impact) in a single dashboard.  I thought that sharing this new year-end dashboard with you was an excellent topic for my final blog of 2011.  When designing the new dashboard I set the following requirements:

  • It must be easy to read.
  • It must standalone and not need me for interpretation.
  • It must be short (3 pages).
  • It must answer the question of was the program successful.

What I came up with is the Predictive Evaluation Year-End Report.  It is 3-page dashboard.  An example of the dashboard for a four-day course titled Business Acumen Training is provided here.

Page 1 is the complete year at a glance.  It uses a 2-column approach where in the left hand column, an evaluation question is posed and the right hand column the question is answered.

Page 2 is detailed Intention Goals, Beliefs, and Adoption by month, company, and lines of business.

Page 3 shows examples of how Adopted Behaviors have resulted in business value.

Clients have given me favorable feedback on this dashboard and you wish to consider adding something like it to your evaluation tools.

As always, I look forward to your thoughts on the topic.
